Wimbledon Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement

This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Wimbledon Man and Van in respect of our financial year and sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. As a local transport and removals provider, we recognise that our responsibilities extend beyond legal compliance to the protection of human rights and the promotion of fair, safe and respectful working practices.

Modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It can occur in many forms, including forced labour, servitude, bonded labour and human trafficking. Wimbledon Man and Van is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not take place in our own business or in any part of our supply chains.

Zero-Tolerance Policy

Wimbledon Man and Van operates a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy to modern slavery and human trafficking. This policy applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, suppliers, subcontractors and any other third parties who work with or on behalf of our business.

We will not knowingly engage with any organisation that is involved in, or that condones, modern slavery or human trafficking. Any breach or suspected breach of this policy will be treated as a serious matter that may result in the termination of contracts, cessation of business relationships and, where appropriate, reporting to relevant authorities.

Our Supply Chains and Supplier Audits

Our supply chains mainly include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, cleaning and facilities services, and outsourced labour for occasional peak periods. While we consider the overall risk in our sector to be relatively low, we acknowledge that risks can exist at any level of the supply chain.

To address these risks, Wimbledon Man and Van is developing and maintaining a supplier due diligence and audit approach proportionate to the size and nature of each supplier relationship. This includes assessing suppliers against ethical standards, requesting information on their own modern slavery policies, and reserving the right to review and, where necessary, visit supplier premises.

Where higher risk is identified, we may apply enhanced checks, such as requesting documented evidence of right-to-work processes, worker welfare policies and grievance mechanisms. Suppliers that fail to meet our requirements or that are unwilling to work towards improvement may be removed from our approved list.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

Wimbledon Man and Van encourages a culture of openness where concerns about modern slavery, unethical behaviour or unsafe working conditions can be raised without fear of retaliation. All workers, including temporary and agency staff, as well as suppliers and other stakeholders, are encouraged to report any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery within our operations or supply chains.

Concerns can be raised in person with line management or senior management within the business. Reports may be made confidentially and will be handled sensitively, with information shared only where necessary for investigation and resolution. We commit to taking all reports seriously, to investigating promptly and fairly, and to taking appropriate remedial action where issues are identified.

Training, Awareness and Responsibilities

Responsibility for overseeing this Modern Slavery Statement and the related policies rests with senior management at Wimbledon Man and Van. Managers involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management are expected to be familiar with modern slavery risks and to apply our requirements consistently.

We aim to raise awareness among our workforce so that employees understand what modern slavery is, can recognise signs of exploitation, and know how to report concerns. Where relevant, training and guidance will be provided to staff in roles that interact with suppliers, contractors or vulnerable workers.

Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement

Wimbledon Man and Van is committed to continuous improvement in our approach to combating modern slavery. We will review this Modern Slavery Statement at least annually, or more frequently if required by changes in legislation, guidance or our business activities.

The annual review will consider the effectiveness of our existing measures, any reports or incidents raised, feedback from employees and suppliers, and developments in best practice. Where necessary, we will update our policies, procedures, training and supplier requirements to strengthen our safeguards against modern slavery and human trafficking.

This statement reflects the commitment of Wimbledon Man and Van to upholding human rights and ensuring that our services are delivered in a manner that respects the dignity and welfare of all individuals involved.
